SAO’s Inaugural Habitat for Humanity Day! September 26, 2013

Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 @ 6:27PM

On September 26, 2013, the Surety Association of Ohio held its inaugural Habitat for Humanity Day in Hamilton, Ohio. Our group worked on two new homes that are part of a unique Habitat neighborhood consisting of 6 “green” homes. All of the volunteers agreed that the experience was very rewarding. It reminded us how fortunate we are for all that we have, and gave us the opportunity to give back by helping those who need a hand up. We also all walked away having learned a little more about construction.

Thank you to Jim Underwood from Westfield for being our liaison with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati and for making our arrangements for the day. Thank you to our volunteers: Eric Schmidt and Jim Underwood (Westfield), Paul Ranalli and Dan Kernich (Zurich), Phil Laird (Great American), and Jonathan Heering and Liz Johnson (Liberty SuretyFirst). A special thank you to Phil Laird’s father-in-law, Bud, for actually bringing some skilled expertise to our group!

If you were unable to participate in this event, please consider volunteering for a future Habitat day. We will be planning similar events in Cleveland and Columbus. Brian Mozena (Travelers) is heading up our effort in Cleveland and Bob Santa (Liberty SuretyFirst) is our Columbus liaison.
